The National Institute of Tourism & Hospitality Management (NITHM) celebrated “Onam Sadya” on the 28th Aug’15 at their campus at Gachibowli – Hyderabad. Oman is reminiscent of Kerala’s agrarian past, as it is considered to be a harvest festival, where a variety of vegetarian dishes are prepared and traditionally served on a banana leaf. The program commenced from 12:30 pm. As the principal Mr.K.Vasudevan welcomed the gathering Onam is a harvest festival and at NITHM it is celebrated where the students take up the various responsibilities of the setting up the festive atmosphere as part of their practical learning.
The narration of the Onam festival was done by B.Sc. student Ms. Shreya and team, after which a Malayalam song was beautifully sung by Faculty of NITHM Mrs. R.Vijaya Lakshmi. Then the most awaited Onam Dance was spectacular, with immense grace and devotion by a group of MBA students. An Alumni student addressed the gathering telling them about how NITHM has taught him to face the future and how he has grown in his career leaps and bounds. Mr.Eknath Reddy from KW Conferences. The vote of thanks was rendered by Faculty Hospitality Mr. Anand Banda. The program came to a close with traditional Kerala Onam Cuisines that was prepared by our B.Sc. Students under the guidance of NITHM Chefs Raghav Reddy and Ganesh Reddy.
