Situated at a distance of 71 kms from the Mandal Headquarters this village has electric poles at high altitude where winds are common, and as a result there is frequent interruption of electricity. Therefore the villagers depend completely on kerosene lamps. Every house needs at least four litres of kerosene oil per month. Ramakrishna Mission distributed solar lights to 55 houses.

Expenses on Kerosen reduced:“The problem of going a long distance to get kerosene is solved now. We had to spend Rs.60/- per month on kerosene. That expenditure is saved now and we can feed our children with porridge. Also during nights children are able to study. These lights are really very much helpful to us .It is a great help from Ramakrishna mission.” Says Chittemma, Appalamma, Gattum.
